What is Sea Glass?

Explore what is Sea Glass

Have you ever seen handmade sea glass jewelry on display but you don't exactly know what is sea glass and where does it come from?

Sea glass is broken glass that’s been thrown into the ocean where it will be converted into a beautiful smooth sea glass gem with no rough edges remaining after years of natural tumbling powers of the waves, rocks and sand.

It can take from 30-50 years and even up to 100 years or more, depending on ocean currents and tidal conditions to create those sea gems before they are washed up along the shoreline and spotted by a sea glass collector.

Sea glass gems are created by man and then refined by the nature making each piece one of a kind. Genuine sea glass has a history; there is a story behind each piece depending on its origin, size and color.

Did it come from an old shipwreck during a storm or from a treasured piece of family glassware that eventually found its way to the sea.

Or was it a piece from a broken glass bottle tossed into the ocean by a child playing by the seashore.

Our sea glass jewelry are made from natural sea glass collected during our family travels to places like Scotland, England, Italy, the U.S. and others.

Sea glass is a sustainable choice to make when it comes to jewelery. Each piece of our handmade jewelry is unique where no two are alike. We handcraft our pieces in our studio in Dubai, UAE, where each piece has a history and a story to tell.
