Scottish sea pottery- story of Kirkcaldy
Learn about our collection of Scottish sea pottery and the story of Kirkcaldy
Our sea pottery piece used in our handmade jewelery collection “Beauty in the Broken” were handpicked mainly from the coast of the Scottish town of Kirkcaldy, each work a story to tell.
Pottery pieces from Kirkcaldy can date back over 100 years to when the pottery factories there -- used to throw their seconds and broken pieces into the sea. Locals also used to throw broken China into the sea for 'good luck'.
Kirkcaldy was one of the main Scottish pottery industries in the 19th and early 20th centuries. During the Victorian era, the town had four potteries which produced Spongeware and Transferware, from everyday items to much larger ornamental pieces that were exported around the world.
Each piece of pottery with its unique and vivid patterns has been reshaped by the rough Scottish sea transforming it into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Those beautiful pieces are now being given a second life by turning them into treasured piece of jewelry, making them the perfect gift for sea lovers and anyone who appreciates handmade jewelry with a history.
We never tumble or change the shape or colors of our pottery finds, which have been shaped by the sea for decades.
Each piece in our sustainable vintage sea pottery jewelry collection is uniquely crafted in Dubai, UAE.
